Jacob Powell

I am a Visiting Instructor of Economics at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and a PhD Candidate at University of Missouri Kansas City. I am also currently a Research Fellow with the Global Institute for Sustainable Prosperity. I received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York and am currently finishing a PhD in economics at the University of Missouri—Kansas City (UMKC), where my co-discipline in the Social Science Consortium with a particular focus on social theory and methodology. My current research has been focused on wage theory, understanding the evolution of labor processes in the US, developing alternative indicators regarding the status of labor markets. My interests include political economy, Institutional economics, methodology, social theory, labor economics, heterodox microeconomics, history of economic thought, and Modern Monetary Theory (MMT).
